Qualifications:

 - Candidates must hold a Masters/doctoral degree (BDS, Masters or PhD) with a proven track record of clinical and research expertise within the specific specialty, such as

  1. Clinical Dentistry
  2. Oral Diagnosis and Oral Surgery
  3. Preventive Dentistry and Dental Education.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong publication record in indexed journals and a deep understanding of evidence-based practice and therapeutic innovations. Beyond clinical knowledge, the role requires a sophisticated grasp of research methodology and biostatistics to evaluate the validity of diverse study designs—ranging from randomized controlled trials in Clinical Dentistry to qualitative assessments in Dental Education. Previous experience in the peer-review process and a commitment to the ICMJE and COPE ethical standards are essential for maintaining the journal's academic integrity.

​The Section Editor serves as the primary scientific authority in their specialty, overseeing the scientific content and rigor of all submitted research. Responsibilities include performing an initial scientific assessment to determine the relevance and originality of each submission before inviting qualified expert reviewers. The Section Editor must analyze reviewer feedback to provide authors with clear and constructive decisions—accept, revise, or reject—while ensuring that clinical findings in fields such as Oral Medicine and Therapeutic Techniques are safe, accurate, and impactful. Section Editors are also subject to performance and quality evaluations. They contribute to the journal’s indexing process or provide necessary support during indexing, and work to improve the standards of submitted research. Additionally, they help enhance the decision-making process from submission to acceptance and ensure high-quality standardization of all published scientific papers.
